I fell silent.
I couldn’t answer this question.
As far as she was concerned, Caleb was determined to purchase Roz Town.
I doubted he’d change his mind about the sale just because we saved him today. I wasn’t naive enough to think that I could convince him otherwise with the power of love.
Such was an unrealistic fantasy.
After hesitating for a while, I chose to be honest with her.
“I know
Caleb will be our enemy in the future. But if he dies now, I won’t be able to forgive myself. Caleb is Elena’s father.”
Melany’s eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know-“
Just then, Brian suddenly strode into the ward and interrupted our conversation.
“Don’t you remember why you chose to leave the hospital, Melany?” Brian asked seriously.
Turning her head to look at him, Melany said indifferently, “If there’s something you want to say, just say it.” ©𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.𝘤𝘰𝘮
“Someone’s Life is in your hands. Have you forgotten the oath you took as a doctor?”
Hesitation flickered across Melany’s eyes. Finally, she agreed to help.
“I just hope you won’t make me regret this.”
“Don’t worry. No matter what happens, I won’t let Caleb harm the town.
You won’t regret this,” I promised.
Melany nodded, her lips pursed into a thin line.
“I hope so, Debra.”
Then she went to the office with Brian.
I had planned to wait outside, but I received a text from Riley.
“Debra, I’ve sent you my location. Can you come here right now?”
I drove there without hesitation.
Now, my priority was to get the antidote. Time was of the essence. The longer I waited, the more Caleb’s body deteriorated.
Thank you for sharing this story! Can’t wait for the rest of it!
