Chapter 171 It Can Prove Remington’s Innocence
“Alas…” the old lady exhaled a long sigh, seemingly unwilling to recall the past. But one question after
another from Remington, she resignedly told the truth, “Your father did have a twin brother, but that boy
died soon after he was born, alas.”
It was likely a lifetime thorn stuck in the heart of Madame Nelson, which she resisted revealing to
anyone, not even to members of the Nelson family.
“That being so, my dad did have a twin brother. Was he older or younger than my dad?”
“He was born ten minutes later than your dad. I say he was your little uncle.”
Remington nodded. Apparently, he got his answer in his mind.
As for his “father” currently in the residence, who no one could tell was real or fake yet didn’t fear DNA
testing, the only possibility was that he was his father’s twin brother.
But if he was a Nelson, why didn’t he just come back to admit it?
Why did he have to plot against Remington’s parents to do that?
Had he done all of it to grab the first successor’s identity that belonged to his father before?
After leaving the old lady’s room, Remington gave Winger an order to continue digging out what
“Samuel Nelson” was burying.
Besides, he would look for evidence to root for his theory and force “Samuel Nelson” to reveal his true
face!
The next day, the weather was gloomy.
The funeral was held by the Millers promptly, and Remington led a group of people to help. He had a
side purpose and came early to wait for Cecelia.
Cecelia arrived late after 9 A.M.
When she got out of the car, she wore a black long dress and a bowler hat with a black veil. Her outfit
accentuated her tender skin and delicate features and charm to perfection.
Seeing her approaching, Remington greeted her immediately, “Cece.

She had an aloof glance at him, responding with silence.

Remington captured the chance and explained, “Cece, look, the gift yesterday was not supposed to be
the way at the time you saw it…”
“I know. Don’t bother illustrating.”
Cecelia had figured out that the gift had been switched.
“No! You have to listen to me! It can prove my innocence!”
Remington straightly caught her wrist and dragged her back to continue, “I’ve prepared a teddy bear for
you, not that kind of thing. I swear to g od, if I meant any of that, I’ll be da mned in hell!”
“I have said it. I knew your gift were supposed to be a teddy bear and roses. You don’t need to swear.”
Remington suddenly saw the light in his heart, kind of shocked, and then asked, “You’re saying my gift
had been switched? How did you know that? And who did that?”
“Leave it alone!”
Cecelia reminded him, “Don’t do that again. I’m no longer a teen, no longer fondle of that kind of stuff.
Don’t waste your money like that!” “Cecelia!”
Noticing Cecelia arrive, Morty Miller called her name at the door to the mourning hall.
Cecelia walked away and towards Morty Miller.
Remington complained inwardly and blamed Morty in his mind for not being able to read the air. Didn’t
that brat see that he was talking to Cecelia?
Cecelia greeted Morty Miller and walked into the mourning hall.
The hall was in solemn silence, and many people, almost all the relatives, and friends of the Miller
family had come to send their condolences.
Cecelia officially started mourning Nick Miller, whose black-and- white photo made her swear she was
going to capture the murderer. and find the truth!
“Guests are here!”
That announcement from outside drew all the attention, including Cecelia’s.

She was surprised on seeing clearly who was at the door.
Maggie Taylor!
Why did she come here as well?
Maggie Taylor was all in black and entered the hall with her bodyguards. She came to the front of
Nick’s photo.
It stirred up waves in her heart to gaze at Nick’s photo.
The entangled history between her, Nick, and Leila Done played back in her mind all of a sudden.
But she remained the look on her face, hiding her emotion under it, not letting anyone see it.
All seemed over because of Nick’s death!
Nick Miller was finally dead, she exclaimed over.
Look what being stubborn on your principles for your entire life brought to you, she said in her mind.

It was not enough that you lost Leila Done in the end. You even lost your own life!
That was what betraying me got you!
Maggie Taylor and her guards bent and bowed three times to Nick’s photo.
Then, she placed a white chrysanthemum as her condolence on the shelf before the shrine.
Turning around, she looked at Nick’s son, Morty, who was in a mourning suit and bent to thank her.
She noticed Cecelia and Remington aside, and it brought a slight shimmer to her plain eyes to see
Remington’s face.
She was surprised to see him, but she hid it deep under her look, not letting anyone know.
“I didn’t expect you’re here, Mr. Nelson and Ms. Linsey.”
Maggie initiated the greeting at them both.
“Nice seeing you again, Ms. Taylor.”
Cecelia nodded to reply to her.
“Are you familiar with Professor Miller?” Maggie asked

“Sort of. Professor Miller was an old friend of my mother. Of that your should be aware, I presume.”
“Yeah. Let’s go talk outside!”
Maggie was walking outside, and Cecelia followed up. It was never easy for her to meet Maggie Taylor
again, so she wouldn’t waste this chance.
Two women came to the yard from the mourning hall to talk about Nick Miller and Leila Doné.
“Back in our time, your mother and I were classmates and good friends. In a blink of an eye, so many
years have passed. How time flies!”
Maggie sighed with emotion.
“Yes, time flies. Unfortunately, my mother is gone.”
Cecelia gazed over at the sky, with thoughts of her mothers prompted in her heart.
“Isn’t she alive?”
Maggie blurted out, which drew Cecelia to surprisedly look at her and ask, “Ms. Taylor, how do you
know my mother’s still alive?” Realizing she let the cats out of the bags, Maggie chuckled and
explained, “I don’t know. Nick told me, but I can’t tell if it’s true.” Cecelia took a deep breath and said, “I
wish it were. The only question is who murdered my mother!”
“You should ask your aunt Heather Done about it thoroughly. This woman never went easy on your
mother when your mother was alive. Because she longed for the marriage with Gary Linsey by all
means, how could she put up with your mother?”
“One more thing, you probably want to know your brother’s whereabouts, right? Heather Done also
knew something about it!” Maggie Taylor acted like she knew many things, and after she finished
talking, she excused herself and left.”
When she left, she left some polite remarks, “Cecelia, you should come to my house for a cup of coffee
some time when you are available.”
“I’d love that. Thank you, Ms. Taylor!”
Needless to say, Cecelia was in desperate need to visit Canes

Mansion for that little girl. But the time didn’t mature yet.
After Maggie and Cecelia parted, Maggie turned around, the smile on her face faded away quickly.

Her lips curved up into a sneer with meaning, and a cold hue spread in her eyes. It was as if everything
was under her control.
After Maggie Taylor left, Cecelia was standing where she was, digesting information from Maggie’s
sentences.
She needed to ask Heather Done about her missing brother!
Did that mean Heather Done had her brother’s whereabouts?
